Message from the Principal, Donna Lack

Greetings Temple Israel Religious School Families! I’m very excited to begin my tenure this year as Religious School Principal, on August 18th. By way of introduction, my family has been a part of the Temple Israel congregation for 12 years, since we moved up to the Melbourne area from South Florida. Both of my boys, Sam & Ben, went through the Judaic & Hebrew schools, making their Bar Mitvahs and Confirmations under the excellent tutelage of Rabbi Pat, and a wealth of wonderful teachers too. My oldest is about to start his 2nd year at Emory Law School, and my youngest is poised to begin his 2nd year at University of Florida. I’m a Certified Legal Assistant by profession, and have also volunteered extensively in the Brevard County School system. My husband, Jonathan, is the head honcho at the law office of Lack & Lack Chartered, and we also have a title company, Waterview Title, as well as realty office. We have some lovely new families this year that have joined our religious school, and I’m looking forward to welcoming both old & new families in a few weeks when school starts up again. There are new, engaging events that have been added to the Religious School calendar, & the one I’m particularly excited about is the Blessing of The Animals, which will take place here at Temple Israel , with Beth Shalom participating as well, on Sunday, November 3 in the morning. Also, we are now doing midweek Hebrew two Wednesdays per month from 6-7PM online in a virtual classroom setting! I think you’re going to like this, Moms & Dads, no schlepping tired kids to temple for Hebrew school during the week. They can participate from the comfort of their own home, wearing their pajamas if they like! Of course, the official calendar of Religious School important dates will be available very soon. I’m available anytime, to assist with any concern large or small. We will work closely together and I am looking forward to it!

L’Hitraot!

In addition, Temple Israel offers a variety of stimulating adult education courses and many social activities through its auxiliary organizations.

Temple Israel is proud of the educational opportunities we offer for our children, our teens, our adults and members of our community. We invite you to learn more about what Temple Israel has to offer.

Our School

Temple Israel’s Beit Midrash (House of Study) is an exciting and nurturing religious school with Hebrew classes and Judaic study.  The curriculum is tailored to children of all grades.  The goal of our religious school is to educate our children to be knowledgeable and observant young Jews who are committed to God, the Synagogue and the traditions of the Jewish people.

Hebrew instruction begins in the third grade and culminates in Bar or Bat Mitzvah at age 13.  The goal of the Hebrew school is to teach Hebrew language and to develop facility in home and synagogue skills.

Correction to the flyer below.  Mommy, Daddy & Me starts at 9 a.m.  NOT 9:30 a.m.

Also, this is open to everyone in the community not just Temple members.
